DIY: Bloody Heart Hair Clip

Hello lovelies!

I have here a fun and quick hair accessory DIY for you all. I really like the idea of a cute heart hair clip, but decided to add a blood splatter print to help it better fit my style. So just follow the steps and enjoy your new hair clip!

What you will need:

  1. Scissors
  2. Foam Board (like 99 cents at a craft store)
  3. Pencil
  4. Plain hair clips
  5. Paint brush
  6. Red acrylic paint
  7. A bowl
  8. A hot glue gun ( I was lacking glue sticks for my gun, so went with the gorilla glue, but I definitely recommend the glue gun!)
  9. Printed out heart lines from the internet
Alright, so I printed out three different size of hearts because I wasn't exactly how big I wanted it to be. I ended making two different ones, the medium heart and the small heart.

Step 1:
Cut out heart outline from the printer page.

Step 2:
Trace your heart on the foam board and then cut out your outline.

Step 3:
Put paint in your bowl. I added a little bit of water to my paint so it would splatter easier.

Step 4:
Put paint on your brush and flick over the heart. Try and make some of the drops smaller and some larger than others. This will help it make look like actual blood splatter.

(They should look this!)

Step 5:
While you wait for that to dry glue a rectangle of the foam board to your hair clip. Hold down to ensure it sticks.

Step 6:
Attach heart to backing with hot glue gun. Allow to dry for a half hour.

And voila! A unique and fun hair accessory. Yes it is that easy guys! Hope you enjoyed this little DIY :)

Oh, did any of you guys get hit by the snow storm crossing the United States? Everyone made a big deal out of it here, I even got work off today, but then it only ended up snowing about 2 inches. Kind of silly how worked up everyone got. At least I got more time to work on my history essay!

Have a great week guys!

Witchy Woman

{Creepers: T.U.K. -- Dress: Modcloth -- Cardigan: Forever 21 -- Scarf: c/o Skip N' Whistle}

Here's the scarf I received with the cat jumper (from the last post), isn't it amazing? It's a really nice jersey knit and I'm thinking it will be perfect for Spring because it's so lightweight. The main reason I chose this scarf is because the amazing print that the lovely folks at Skip N' Whistle picked out. I must admit that I don't have anything with a witch on it, so it's a cute and unique piece in my ever growing closet. Do any of you own anything witch like?

I know I've been totally lacking on posts, but seriously, if there were only a few more hours in the day! I went to take pictures last weekend and after the third shot my camera died, it was a very depressing moment. Then on top of that the charger went missing so I had to completely gut clean my room. Ugh! No breaks, I tell ya. Anyhow school and work are both going well and after this week is my Spring break. Can't wait!

Happy March everyone!

Un Chat

{Shoes: T.U.K -- Dress: Modcloth -- Sweartshirt: c/o Skip N' Whistle -- Jacket: Modcloth -- Hat: Christmas Gift}

Hi lovelies! Today is sort of a special post, which I was really excited to get up. I was contacted by this amazing Etsy shop called Skip N' Whistle who wanted me to do a product review for them. They actually sent me two lovely pieces, this being the first. The reason why I was so pumped for this review is because I think it is really important, as a blogger, that we also help small business. It's funny because I had actually ran across their store during one of my endless hours of looking through Etsy and saw this exact sweatshirt. It was pretty much love at first site. Honestly, how amazing it though guys? I wore it out to the doctors the other day and five different people commented on it and one lady said it even looked just liked her cat and wanted to know where she could get one!

You probably don't know this, but I have a slight obsession with hoodless sweatshirts... if I'm not dressed up for school or work they are pretty much the only thing I wear. Actually, wearing my Sea World one right now (thrifted that beauty!) I could probably keep listing reasons why I love this sweatshirt, but let's get down to business.

Here are the reasons why I would make another purchase from Skip N' Whistle:
  • Amazing prints!
  • Cozy material
  • Fast shipping
  • Amazingly nice and fun attitudes
  • Supporting a small business
  • Helping my cat clothing obsession grow
Over all I had a really good experience with this company thus far and 100% recommend their clothing (and some of their messenger bags looked awesome too.. )

Check out their designs, let me know what you think, and tell me what's your favorite print that they have!

On another note, how was everyone's Valentine's day? Zach and I went and saw that zombie movie, Warm Bodies, it was pretty cute. :) Probably wouldn't go see it again though, and we went to dinner where we ate a million truffle fries. So yummy! Then, obviously, we came home and watched Vampire Diaries!

Will You Be Mine?

Well, it is officially Valentine's Day week. For some of you this is probably great and for others not so much. I know a lot of people think this day is silly and unnecessary because "we should always show our significant other how much we love them". I think people who have this viewpoint are missing out a bit on what the holiday is really for. It's not just about going out to dinner with my boyfriend on thursday, but about taking a step back from our hectic lives and showing all of our loved ones how much they really mean to us. And not just your boyfriend or girlfriend, but your family and friends. I love getting Valentine's day cards from my parents every year along with a fun small gift. It all reminds me how much I care about my entire family and how I'd be willing to do anything for them. Honestly, I need that reminder sometimes too. I get so caught up in everything else i.e. school, work, blog, reading.

Said in a much simpler way I wish everyone would stop complaining and just have fun and relax. Don't have a significant other or family around? Then go get tea and cupcakes with a friend! I just hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day and not a sad one.

With that being said, here is some Valentine's inspiration I found about on the internet!

Hope you enjoyed all the festive images! And tell me, what are you plans for this thursday? I'm making dinner for the boyfriend then we are going to go see that Zombie movie... hopefully it's good!

P.S. If one of the above is your image but is not linked correctly or you just want it taken down, shoot me an e-mail and I'll fix that ASAP!

Uniform

{Shoes: Bass -- Socks: Urban Outfitters -- Skirt H&M -- Sweater: Forever 21 -- Blouse: Modcloth -- Jacket: Urban Outfitters -- Beret: H&M}

I decided to name todays post Uniform because I felt like a bad ass school girl in this outfit. It felt really girly and fun, but also had a secret edge underneath the surface. Now growing up I never had to go to a school that required uniforms so I've always been kind of intrigued. On one hand you don't have to try on ten outfits and waste an extra hour getting ready in the morning. On the other though, well, you don't get to try on those ten outfits because you have to wear (typically) some drab plaid skirt and a polo shirt. After my initial thought that it might be fun to have worn a school uniform I decided that I would have probably been miserable. Especially since my outfits are a way for me to express myself to every person I see on that given day!

I haven't always been so fashion crazy, especially in the early years of high school, but I can't imagine my life without the excitement of waking up and knowing I get to put together a killer outfit today. Which reminds me.... It's New York Fashion Week! Ahhh! Are any of you there right now? I would love to do it one year, and hopefully I will have to attend because of my lovely fashionful job, that is after I finish college.

Have you seen any collections thus far that you love? Let me know, I'll check them out!

P.S. Like the new layout? :)
